Event Details
Event Description:
Join us for a structured Get Connected Retreat from 31st July to 2nd August, designed to support participants in building independence, social connection, and confidence through real-world community experiences.
This supported group-based retreat will involve travel to Wagga Wagga, with a planned stop at Questacon in Canberra. This component provides an opportunity for participants to engage in a community setting, develop decision-making skills, and practice navigating new environments with appropriate support.
During the retreat, participants will attend the Women’s Magic Round of Rugby League, supporting engagement in mainstream community events. This experience is designed to build confidence in managing crowds, following schedules, making choices, and participating in shared social experiences.
Across the three days, participants will be supported to:
- Develop daily living skills including personal organisation, hygiene, and routine management
- Build social and communication skills through group-based activities
- Increase independence in unfamiliar environments
- Participate in community-based activities aligned with their individual NDIS goals
- Engage in shared meal preparation and decision-making
All supports provided during the retreat are aligned with the NDIS Core Supports and Capacity Building Supports categories, with a focus on achieving participant-specific outcomes in a safe and structured environment.
